The harbor city of Morro Bay is famous for the geographical monument it surrounds, Morro Rock. The first recorded sighting of Morro Rock was in 1542. One of the nine sisters of extinct volcanic peaks in the area, today it continues to be one of the many tourist attractions on the Central Coast. Fisherman come from all over to fish the waters off of Morro Bay. The taste and smell of fresh fish, and the sight of boats coming and going through the harbor mouth is a daily occurrence. The Embarcadero, a street of shops and restaurants located near the water's edge is an attraction for tourists and locals alike. And, there are several community events throughout the town like the local produce and seafood markets, Art in the Park, and the Harbor Festival that gather people together on a regular basis. With a population of around 14,000, many of the homes in Morro Bay are owned by retirees, or vacation owners, but there are locals and families that live here as well. The neighborhoods consist of homes located near the shops and restaurants of downtown Morro Bay, near the state park and golf course, close to the schools or close to the beach. Or you can choose to have a home high on the hill with panoramic ocean views of the white water and coastline. Either way, the weather is mild throughout the year and mostly sunny with some periods of fog and ocean mist. With its fresh air and ocean influence, The city of Morro Bay is a wonderful place to live and play on the beautiful Central Coast of California.
